Dubai's New Al Maktoum International Airport: World's Largest with ₹2900 Crores Investment, 5 Runways, and 260 Million Annual Capacity
Listen
Dubai is constructing a new terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport with the goal of making it the world's largest airport.
The new airport will be five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport.
All operations at the current airport will be moved to Al Maktoum International Airport in the future.
UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad announced the news on X, stating that construction will cost AED 128 billion.
The shift is part of Dubai Aviation Corporation's strategy.
Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai will be the world's largest with a capacity to handle 260 million passengers annually.
It will be five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport and will have 400 aircraft gates.
The airport will feature five parallel runways for efficient air traffic management.
The project will introduce new aviation technologies and will cost approximately ₹2900 Crores.
The first phase, capable of accommodating 150 million passengers per year, is expected to be completed within 10 years.
The ruler of Dubai announced plans to construct a new city, named Dubai South, around the airport in Dubai.
This city will be a global hub for logistics and air transport industries and is expected to accommodate a population of one million people.
The project is described as a legacy for future generations, aiming to make Dubai the world's leading airport, port, urban hub, and new global center.
