Saudi Arabia is expecting severe weather conditions until Friday, with regions such as Madinah, Makkah, Jeddah, Baha, and Najran experiencing moderate-to-heavy rain, high winds, hail, and thunder.
The National Center of Meteorology issued this forecast, and the General Directorate of Civil Defense also warned residents with safety instructions.
The Civil Defense stated that most parts of the Kingdom, including Asir, Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Jazan, Qassim, Jouf, Hail, Tabuk, Northern Borders, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, will experience moderate-to-torrential thundershowers and strong winds.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense advised people to stay indoors and follow instructions during potential storms and floods.
Schools in Jeddah, Makkah, and Madinah switched to online classes using the Madrasati platform due to the weather conditions.
Several universities in the affected regions closed and postponed exams or switched to remote learning.
The Jeddah Municipality prepared a plan to handle the weather situation and urged residents to avoid flooded areas.
The director of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Northern Border region, Bandar bin Saleh Al-Hadiya, inspected dam safety in Arar in preparation for the rainy season.
Meanwhile, Riyadh experienced a heavy sandstorm with high winds on Sunday night, resulting in a dusty city skyline.
On Monday, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert for dust storms in parts of the Riyadh region, including the capital and the governorates of Al-Aflaj, Al-Sulail, and Wadi Al-Dawasir.
