Ukrainian and Russian Strikes Result in Four Fatalities
Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia, and a Russian response in Ukraine, have led to four deaths.
MOSCOW: A Ukrainian drone attack on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of three individuals in the Russian border region of Belgorod, according to local authorities.
In retaliation, a Russian attack in central Ukraine claimed one life.
Furthermore, a significant oil refinery in southern Russia caught fire, prompting a local state of emergency due to the thick black smoke that blanketed the coastal town of Tuapse.
Belgorod regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on Telegram that three civilians lost their lives and three others were injured following the drone strikes by Ukrainian forces.
The attacks targeted vehicles, leading to multiple fatalities.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, there have been continuous reports of Russian bombings targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, particularly key sites.
In a separate incident, Russian artillery fire in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rig resulted in one fatality and injured five others, as confirmed by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The attacks by Kyiv are said to primarily target Russian energy infrastructure with the aim of reducing Moscow's capability to finance its military operations.
The Tuapse oil terminal on Russia’s southern Black Sea coast has been hit repeatedly in recent weeks.
Following a Ukrainian drone attack, fires burned for days at the site, causing locals to refer to it as 'oil rain' when black streaks appeared on streets, animals, and vehicles after rainfall.
This ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate with both sides engaging in retaliatory strikes that lead to civilian casualties.
