Spanish police have arrested Jonathan Andic, the eldest son of Mango clothing brand founder Isak Andic, following a re-examination of his father's death during a hiking trip in December 2024.

The incident occurred near the Salnitre caves in Collbato, an area known for its steep drops and ravines where Isak fell to his death.

Initially treated as an accident, the case was closed in January 2025 without finding any evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

However, investigators reopened the case in October 2025 based on inconsistencies in Jonathan's testimony.

Isak Andic was a retail magnate and one of Spain's wealthiest individuals with an estimated $4.5 billion fortune at the time of his death.

He founded Mango in Barcelona in 1984, which has since grown into a global fashion group operating over 2,850 stores across more than 120 markets worldwide.

The company offers both professional and casual styles and employs around 16,400 people globally.

Tensions between Jonathan and his father reportedly existed due to disagreements over the younger Andic's role within the company.

Isak had initially handed more operational responsibilities to Jonathan in 2014 but later reasserted control when Mango faced business challenges in 2015.

The family has also been involved in financial disputes, notably concerning Isak's will and his daughter-in-law Estefania Knuth's involvement in a legal battle over her role at the company.

Jonathan, who has maintained that the fall was accidental, has worked for Mango since 2005 after studying abroad.

He managed the Mango Man line from 2007 onwards and served as vice-chairman of the board until his father's death.

Family members have expressed their confidence in Jonathan's innocence, calling for respect for his presumption of innocence.

The investigation remains under judicial secrecy.
