Saudi Princess Reema Meets Delegation Headed to International Science and Engineering Fair

RIYADH: Princess Reema bint Bandar, the Saudi ambassador to the United States, recently met with the national delegation preparing for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2026.
This meeting was reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday, underscoring the growing prominence of Saudi Arabia in the global scientific community.The team consists of 42 students who are presenting a variety of innovative projects spanning cutting-edge scientific fields.
Their selection for ISEF was made through the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity, Ibdaa 2026, an annual initiative by Mawhiba aimed at cultivating scientific genius within the country.Saudi Arabia's participation in ISEF is coordinated by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, alongside the Ministry of Education.
This year’s event, held from May 9 to 15, draws over 1,700 students representing more than 70 countries worldwide.Since first participating in ISEF in 2007, Saudi Arabia has garnered a total of 185 awards.
Notably, they have won 124 grand prizes and 61 special awards.
In the previous year's competition, the Kingdom secured the second position for grand prizes, trailing only behind the United States—a testament to its rapidly advancing scientific capabilities and the most successful performance to date.Princess Reema’s meeting with the delegation signifies not only support for individual achievements but also the government's commitment to fostering an environment that encourages scientific excellence and innovation.
The Kingdom’s increasing presence on the international science stage reflects a broader shift towards developing human capital and investing in the future through education and research.
