Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz Alwasil, recently participated in the second International Migration Review Forum at the UN headquarters in New York.
During his participation, Alwasil highlighted that effective management of regular migration requires strong international partnerships that respect countries' sovereignty and national priorities, contributing to development and mutual benefit.In a significant move, Saudi Arabia submitted its first voluntary report on the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration, demonstrating an institutional approach towards monitoring progress.
This report underscores the kingdom's commitment to transparency and accountability in managing migrant workers.Alwasil also reviewed key reforms introduced under Saudi Vision 2030, specifically targeting labor market and expatriate workforce improvements.
He emphasized that while regular migration presents opportunities for growth when effectively managed, it is crucial to support national objectives.
Notably, remittances from residents of the Kingdom reached approximately $44 billion in 2025, significantly contributing to international economies and supporting sustainable development efforts globally.
