Saudi Arabia's Alat CEO Discusses AI Collaborations with US and China: Potential Partnerships with Two US Tech Companies
Saudi Arabia, through its company Alat, led by CEO Amit Midha, aims to contribute significantly to the development of US artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Alat, launched by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, specializes in semiconductor manufacturing and smart technology production.
Midha expressed Saudi Arabia's intentions to support the US in building AI infrastructure and highlighted the country's ambitions in establishing data centers, fostering AI enterprises, and enhancing semiconductor manufacturing.
The US has pressured Abu Dhabi's AI firm G42 to abandon Chinese technology to maintain access to US systems for AI applications.
This led to a $1.5 billion investment from Microsoft.
G42's CEO stated they would divest from China if it posed a problem for the US.
US officials have been urging Saudi Arabia to choose between Chinese and American technology for its semiconductor industry, as part of broader national security discussions.
Midha emphasized the significance of strong partnerships with the US due to its status as India's top partner and largest market for AI, chips, and semiconductor industry.
Alat is planning to announce partnerships with two US tech companies by June, with potential co-investment from a US firm.
The specific companies and focus of the collaborations have not been disclosed by Midha.
