Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned a series of deadly attacks by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces on a hospital and civilian areas, warning that the assaults represent a grave violation of international humanitarian law and further endanger an already devastated population.

The condemnation followed reports that RSF fighters targeted a medical facility and surrounding neighbourhoods, resulting in multiple civilian deaths and injuries and forcing the suspension of critical healthcare services.

In an official statement, Saudi authorities expressed deep concern over the deliberate targeting of civilians and protected sites, stressing that hospitals must remain neutral sanctuaries even during active conflict.

Riyadh called on all parties to uphold their obligations under international law and emphasised that attacks on medical infrastructure undermine prospects for humanitarian relief at a time when Sudan faces acute shortages of food, medicine and basic services.

The latest violence comes as fighting between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces continues to spread across urban centres, with civilians increasingly caught in the crossfire.

Aid agencies have warned that repeated attacks on hospitals and clinics have pushed Sudan’s healthcare system to the brink of collapse, leaving millions without access to emergency treatment.

The incident has intensified regional and international concern over the conduct of the RSF and the broader trajectory of the conflict.

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for efforts to end the fighting through dialogue and political settlement, reiterating its backing for international and regional initiatives aimed at restoring stability in Sudan.

Riyadh also urged the international community to increase pressure on armed groups to protect civilians and ensure unhindered humanitarian access.

The statement underscored that lasting peace will require accountability for violations and a commitment by all actors to prioritise the safety and dignity of the Sudanese people.
