Saudi Arabia Advocates for International Guarantees to Secure Gaza Ceasefire
Saudi Foreign Minister calls for support of Palestinian Authority and measures to ensure long-term peace in Gaza.
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has emphasized the urgent necessity for international guarantees and United Nations resolutions to maintain a sustained ceasefire in Gaza, aimed at preventing future conflicts and fostering long-term peace in Palestine.
Speaking at an extraordinary Arab Summit in Egypt, Prince Faisal expressed the Kingdom's commitment to supporting the Palestinian Authority by empowering it to govern Gaza and provide critical humanitarian services necessary for the population.
During his address, Prince Faisal unequivocally rejected any violations against Palestinian rights, including the expansion of settlements, land annexation, and forced displacement.
He reiterated the Palestinian people's inherent right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians in Gaza, he called on the international community to act swiftly to restore normalcy, reconstruct the region, and ensure that its residents can live with dignity on their land.
Prince Faisal conveyed greetings from King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the leaders attending the summit, expressing gratitude to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for hosting the event and to Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his commitments during Bahrain's presidency of the Arab League Council.
In closing, he expressed hope that the summit would yield concrete outcomes to mitigate the catastrophic effects of the ongoing conflict, protect innocent Palestinian civilians, and pave the way for a future characterized by security, stability, and prosperity throughout the region.
