Saudi Arabia's Oversight Authority Conducts Major Corruption Crackdown
Nazaha investigates 370 individuals and arrests 131 amidst extensive oversight activities in February 2025.
The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) of Saudi Arabia has initiated numerous criminal and administrative cases as part of its ongoing anti-corruption efforts, reported during February 2025. In a recent announcement, Nazaha indicated that it conducted a total of 3,466 oversight visits across various government entities.
As a result of these inspections, the authority has placed 370 individuals under investigation.
Among these, 131 individuals have been arrested, though some have since been released on bail.
Those involved include personnel from several key ministries and government bodies, highlighting the broad scope of the investigation.
The implicated organizations include the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, National Guard, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, and the Saudi Ports Authority.
The charges against the arrested and investigated individuals primarily involve corruption-related offenses, including bribery and the abuse of authority.
Nazaha has reiterated its dedication to promoting transparency and accountability within the public sector.
The authority has also encouraged the public to report any suspected instances of corruption through established official channels, which include its website and specialized reporting platforms.
