Palestinians Mourn Pregnant Woman and Her Children Killed in Israeli Strikes
Funerals held for woman pregnant with twins and two of her children among at least 13 killed in recent Israeli strikes on Gaza.
In a solemn procession, Palestinians buried a pregnant woman named Islam Al-Tanani, who was expecting twins, along with two of her children, Hamza, aged four, and Naya, following at least 13 fatalities resulting from Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip.
The violence, which took place on Friday, claimed the lives of two men in Gaza City and eight others, including four police officers, in Khan Younis, according to local hospital officials.
The Al-Tanani family experienced a horrific series of events that led to the untimely deaths of Islam and her children.
Khalid Al-Tanani recounted how his family managed to survive the initial shell but were subsequently struck by three more shells, leaving them lifeless.
He described finding his wife among the deceased alongside their children in their grandmother's arms.
The twin who survived, along with another child, was profoundly affected by these tragic events.
At the funeral, heartfelt wails echoed as family members mourned their loss, with one relative expressing grief over Hamza: "You took my soul with you, Hamza".
She lamented his departure and the profound pain it caused her.
The Israeli military defended its actions by stating that it targeted several individuals who posed a threat to its troops in the region, issuing warnings to civilians beforehand.
However, Khalid Al-Tanani claimed that no prior notice was given before the strikes.
Although an informal ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect on October 10, ongoing Israeli attacks have led to a mounting death toll among Palestinians, with more than 790 lives lost since the beginning of the fragile truce.
The escalating violence has left many Gazans feeling as though the war continues unabated.
In response to militant threats and violations, including shooting attacks on troops, Israel has conducted numerous strikes.
Since the ceasefire, four Israeli soldiers have been killed.
The Gaza Health Ministry, which maintains detailed records of casualties, has documented a total of 72,300 Palestinian deaths since the beginning of the conflict in October 2023.
This toll includes not only those killed during Hamas's initial attack on Israel that sparked the war but also the fatalities resulting from Israeli retaliatory strikes and ongoing operations.
