KSrelief Expands Yemen Aid Efforts with Cholera Response, Market and School Rehab Projects

Saudi aid agency KSrelief launches new health, education, and livelihood support projects in Yemen.
Riyadh: The Saudi aid agency KSrelief has expanded its humanitarian operations in Yemen with new health, education, and livelihood support projects, according to reports carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

In the latest health initiative, KSrelief stated that its emergency cholera response project provided medical services to 7,155 people between April 15 and 21.

The project targets areas most affected by the outbreak and aims to reduce infections through preventive and treatment measures.

This includes deploying special medical teams to monitor travelers at air and land ports, supplying healthcare facilities with intravenous and oral rehydration solutions, antibiotics, sterilization materials, and protective equipment for medical workers.

The program also seeks to expand bed capacity at cholera treatment centers to cope with rising case numbers.

KSrelief emphasized that the project is part of Saudi Arabia's broader humanitarian support for Yemen’s healthcare sector and efforts to limit the spread of infectious diseases.

In addition, KSrelief launched two rehabilitation projects for fish and vegetable markets in Al-Ghaydah district in Yemen’s Al-Mahrah governorate as part of a sustainable agriculture and fisheries empowerment initiative.

The projects aim to improve services for residents while supporting the livelihoods of fishermen and vendors by renovating market facades, establishing new sales outlets, upgrading water, sewage, and electrical systems, and installing metal shade structures in the vegetable market.

KSrelief stated that these initiatives are intended to strengthen agricultural and fisheries production, improve market access, and contribute to sustainable economic stability in Yemen.

Furthermore, KSrelief, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, launched a project to support educational services and rehabilitate Yemen’s education sector.

This includes rehabilitating and expanding 12 schools in Aden, Lahj, and Taiz governorates, with plans to build 44 classrooms and restore 120 classrooms and 10 laboratories.

Several educational facilities will also be established or rehabilitated, while eight schools will be equipped with solar power systems and furnished with educational and administrative equipment.

The project is expected to benefit approximately 18,000 students.

Yemeni education officials noted that this initiative would help stabilize the country’s education system and improve conditions in public schools.
