Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Praise Makkah Route Initiative for Streamlined Services
Expanded access to the program includes new major Indonesian airport participation.
Riyadh: Indonesia continues to send its Hajj pilgrims with expanded access to the Makkah Route, a flagship Saudi initiative that simplifies immigration procedures.
This year, 221,000 Indonesian pilgrims will participate in the Hajj, one of Islam's pillars.Pilgrimage flights from Indonesia began on April 22 and run until May 21, ahead of the Hajj expected start date on May 25.
The Makkah Route initiative, now available to pilgrims departing from Makassar, South Sulawesi, is the fourth Indonesian city to join after Jakarta, Solo, and Surabaya.Powered by the Saudi Data and AI Authority, this program uses smart technologies for efficient services with active Saudi participation.
A key feature is the mobile counter, allowing pilgrims to complete procedures within airport terminals and ensuring smooth processes, especially for the elderly and those with disabilities.An Indonesian pilgrim, Kaher, expressed his gratitude for the comprehensive care provided by the Kingdom, noting the high level of organization that allows pilgrims to perform their rituals easily.
Another pilgrim, Desta Ayoninig, was supported by her brother in making her Hajj journey possible despite financial hardship and after her father's passing.Hajjah Khairiyah praised the organization of Hajj services in Indonesia, particularly the Makkah Route initiative, highlighting reduced waiting times and a smoother journey for pilgrims.
This initiative is available at 17 entry points across 10 countries and has served 1,254,994 pilgrims since its launch in 2017.
