SUMENEP, Indonesia: Authorities in Indonesia have initiated a measles vaccination campaign following an outbreak that has resulted in 17 fatalities.
Hundreds of children queued up for free measles shots on Monday as part of this effort.
According to officials, over 2,000 children have been infected with measles in East Java province over the past eight months.
The majority of these cases, 16 out of 17 deaths, occurred in Sumenep district.
Health officials from the Sumenep District Health Agency noted that 16 patients were not immunized and one did not complete their
vaccine series.
