U.S. President Joe Biden has promised a response following an attack by a drone on forces stationed at a base near the Jordanian-Syrian border that resulted in the death of three American soldiers and the injury of numerous others. He accused Iran-supported militias of carrying out the attack.

The U.S. military reported that the attack occurred at a base located in the northeast of Jordan near the Syrian border, without specifying the base's name. However, CNN identified the targeted site as "Tower 22."

The U.S. Department of Defense confirmed the killing of three soldiers and injuries to 28 others. Later, a U.S. official stated that the condition of at least 34 military personnel was being assessed. Two officials informed Reuters that some of the wounded were evacuated from the base for further medical treatment.

Biden assured that the U.S. would hold "all those responsible" for the deaths and injuries of U.S. soldiers accountable in a "timely and appropriate manner." He added in a statement, "While we are still gathering facts about this attack, we know that it was carried out by extremist armed groups supported by Iran operating in Syria and Iraq."

This incident marks the first loss of American lives in the region since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict and signals a significant escalation in an already tense situation.

The confirmation of the American soldiers' deaths followed announcements by the "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" group of drone attacks on the Ain al-Assad base, the Harir base near Erbil Airport, and three bases in Syria: Shaddadi, Rukban, and Tanf.

In addition, the British Ministry of Defense announced the thwarting of a Houthi drone attack targeting its "HMS Diamond" destroyer in the Red Sea on Saturday.
