Palestine Committee Confirms Systematic and Deliberate Attempts to Liquidate the Palestinian Cause
The Arab Parliament's Palestine Committee has called for the essential implementation of the two-state solution, highlighting that the Palestinian cause is facing systematic and deliberate attempts for its liquidation.
During its third meeting of the fourth session of the third legislative term, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab Parliament in Cairo, presided by Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, the President of the Arab Parliament and Chair of the Palestine Committee, a critical discussion unfolded.
In his opening speech, Al-Asoumi stated that the Palestinian issue is undergoing comprehensive and complete liquidation efforts, with the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip facing systematic and deliberate forced displacement since October 7, 2023. He emphasized that massacres, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and fully constituted crimes of aggression are being committed against Gaza’s civilians, resulting in thousands of innocent victims, predominantly children and women, alongside massive and comprehensive destruction of infrastructure and the breakdown of the health system.
Al-Asoumi added that an entire sector has turned into a mass graveyard and a disaster area, lacking all essentials and elements of human life, where the Palestinian people face the challenge of death, whether due to the daily bombing by the Israeli occupation entity or the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza leading to significant loss of life.
The Arab Parliament has been in continuous session and holding emergency meetings since the Israeli occupation's aggression began on October 7, 2023, targeting the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem by extremist settler gangs and the Israeli army.
Al-Asoumi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s ongoing efforts and international, regional, and parliamentary endeavors to support the Palestinian cause until the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights to return, freedom, and the establishment of their fully sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of refugees, appreciating efforts aimed at achieving a permanent ceasefire, the return of displaced persons to their homes, and ensuring sufficient humanitarian aid to address the crisis in Gaza.
The Palestine Committee of the Arab Parliament urged the international community to adopt a unified and different stance from the shameful silence towards the ongoing brutal attacks by the Israeli occupation forces against our brothers in Gaza, which the committee described as clear acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing, especially against innocent women, children, and elderly, who are fighting an existential battle in defense of their land and sanctities.
The committee warned of the dreadful implications of the humanitarian situation, famine, and the collapse of the health system in Gaza, rejecting any attempts at displacement and forced migration of the Palestinian people, which it considers illegal under international law.
The committee also discussed in greater detail the violations by the Israeli entity against Palestinian natural resources and maritime areas through the exploitation of Palestinian natural resources amid the ongoing war. At the meeting's conclusion, the committee adopted a draft resolution regarding the situation in Palestine, setting the stage for its presentation at the next scheduled session of the Arab Parliament on the upcoming Saturday.
