UNWTO and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism Collaborate on Six-Month Training Program to Enhance Tourism Education Standards and Create a
The UN World Tourism Organization, in collaboration with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism, has launched a six-month training program to improve the international standards of tourism education in Saudi Arabia.
The program, which is part of the UN's TedQual certification system, will evaluate institutions in Saudi Arabia based on universally applicable criteria.
The partnership was established during ITB Berlin last year.
The Ministry of Tourism in Saudi Arabia will assess up to 50 tourism education and training programs and 35 initiatives through the UNWTO TedQual process.
This evaluation aims to improve standards.
The TedQual project requires programs to lead to a diploma or higher qualification, be open to the public, and focus on tourism field specializations.
The UNWTO and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism plan to collaborate further, creating massive online courses for the global tourism workforce (300 million people).
The text describes a partnership between entities to establish managerial and vocational classes in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, and Spanish.
They aim to create a "Jobs Factory and Tourism Labor Market Observatory" to promote added value positions through workforce skills analysis and capacity building.
This initiative could benefit up to 100,000 job seekers and involve at least 50 tourism businesses.
