Saudi Students Bring Home Two Medals from European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad
Two Saudi high school girls, Fatimah Hassan Buali from Al-Ahsa and Retaj Al-Saleh from the Eastern Province, achieved impressive results at the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad held in Georgia.
The competition, which attracted 212 participants from 54 countries, is designed for girls with a strong passion for mathematics beyond the standard curriculum.
Saudi Arabia was represented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education.
Buali earned a bronze medal, while Al-Saleh received a certificate of appreciation.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has participated in the Mathematical Olympiad 12 times, resulting in 2 gold, 6 silver, 13 bronze medals, and 7 certificates of appreciation for Saudi students.
Amal bint Abdullah Al-Hazzaa, Secretary-General of Mawhiba, attributes the students' successes to the integration of Saudi institutions and their dedication to educating and training young talents according to international standards.
She commends the collaboration between Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education, which aims to enhance Saudi human capital in alignment with the National Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030.
Mawhiba, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, runs the Mawhiba Program for International Olympiads, which prepares Saudi teams for international scientific competitions.
This involves advanced training and curriculum development, leading to Saudi teams' annual participation.
Girls who excelled in the Mathematical Olympiad training sessions were selected to represent Saudi Arabia.
