Saudi School Students Recognized for Academic Giftedness

Several Saudi students have excelled in a national test assessing academic giftedness, securing places at top universities worldwide.
A group of Saudi school students has achieved outstanding results in the Mawhiba Multiple Cognitive Aptitude Test, showcasing not only their academic abilities but also critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Among these students are Aseel Al-Bagieh (year eight), Safanah Al-Homood (year five), Jodi Al-Rehaili (year nine), and Lulwa Al-Habdan (year four) from Downe House Riyadh.

Their success highlights the strength of the academic pathways and personalized support offered by their school.In addition to these achievements, Leen Al-Yahyawi, a year 13 student and Saudi national, secured acceptance to the prestigious University of California, Berkeley, along with a full Saudi scholarship.

Yasmin Zaini, Downe House Riyadh’s head girl and also a Saudi national, received multiple offers and scholarships from renowned institutions such as IE University Madrid, Indiana University Bloomington, and the University of Colorado Boulder.

Notably, Zaini balanced her academic studies with an international training program for the Saudi national snowboarding team.Haya Al-Abdulwahab also achieved an outstanding score in the Qudrat examinations for university admissions, further highlighting the academic prowess of these students.

The principal of Downe House Riyadh, Deborah Sharifi, expressed pride in her students’ achievements, emphasizing that their success reflects both their dedication and the robust academic programs provided by the school.The Mawhiba Multiple Cognitive Aptitude Test is administered by the King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity (Mawhiba) and assesses mental flexibility, reasoning, and comprehension skills.

The test is offered in both Arabic and English at over 100 centers across the country.

Mawhiba has previously set a Guinness World Record for the highest number of registrations for a cognitive aptitude test in a single month.The national program aims to create a comprehensive database of gifted students, raise community awareness about giftedness, and support their development through various enrichment programs.

This initiative is part of the broader effort to identify, nurture, and develop the potential of gifted students within Saudi Arabia.
