Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Nabih Berri discuss ceasefire extension in Washington.
Riyadh: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed efforts to achieve a complete cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon with the speaker of its parliament, Nabih Berri, on Thursday.
In a phone call with Berri, Prince Faisal also addressed developments in Lebanon and reiterated the Kingdom's support for the stability of Lebanon and the strengthening of its state institutions.
Berri praised Saudi Arabia's role in supporting Lebanon and maintaining regional security.
He reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to the Taif Agreement and its opposition to any actions that could threaten Saudi Arabia.
Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors are set to meet in Washington on Thursday evening to discuss extending a fragile 10-day ceasefire that began last week.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has resulted in over 2,400 deaths in Lebanon.
