Saudi Authorities Finalize Hajj Logistics, Safety, Transport Plans

Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah completes preparations to manage pilgrims' movement during the Hajj season.
MAKKAH: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced the completion of its administrative and field preparations aimed at managing pilgrims' movement to the Jamarat site for the stoning ritual.

Additionally, the ministry is set to facilitate access to the metro at holy sites and oversee transport between these locations during the Hajj season. These measures are part of an integrated operational system that leverages advanced planning and modern technologies.

The goal is to ensure smooth movement and maintain pilgrim safety throughout the season.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, coordination with relevant authorities forms a key aspect of this effort. The ministry has been working on enhancing field coordination through a unified leadership framework, faster information exchange, and swift response mechanisms.

This approach aims at addressing developments on the ground more efficiently, thereby improving transport and movement effectiveness. It is emphasized that adhering to approved movement schedules plays a crucial role in organizing pilgrim flow, ensuring safety, and supporting smooth operations.

Pilgrims are urged to follow all movement-related rules to guarantee a safe and orderly Hajj experience. In related developments, Kidana Development Co., the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, has completed the replacement and upgrade of fire and cooling networks in Mina's tent areas ahead of the Hajj season.

This move aims at enhancing infrastructure efficiency and safety by replacing outdated systems with modern ones that meet high technical standards. The project covered 188 residential zones comprising 565 tents, with a total network length of 339,000 linear meters implemented over four phases.

The upgrade not only replaces outdated networks but also improves maintenance efficiency and provides a safer, more comfortable environment for pilgrims.Meanwhile, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority has intensified its oversight activities as part of an operational plan to ensure the safety and availability of medical supplies for pilgrims.

Inspection teams are stationed at several entry points where they examine shipments of medicines and medical devices arriving with Hajj delegations.By verifying compliance with approved standards, these inspection teams support healthcare services provided to pilgrims and streamline procedures at ports of entry.

To date, the authority has inspected 27 shipments from 20 countries, clearing more than 187 tonnes of medical supplies while preventing about one tonne of non-compliant food and pharmaceutical products from entering. The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has also implemented operational facilitations aimed at ensuring a continuous supply of medical goods for Hajj missions.

This includes flexibility in inspecting some shipments on arrival at mission headquarters located within the holy sites, thus improving efficiency while maintaining safety standards.
