Saudi Arabia and the UK are taking significant strides to strengthen economic ties through enhanced trade and investment initiatives. In a meeting between Saudi Minister of Commerce Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi and UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds in Riyadh, they emphasized the growth in bilateral trade, reaching $103 billion, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.
Meanwhile, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met in Riyadh to discuss bolstering their bilateral cooperation and joint interests. This high-level engagement underscores the commitments from both countries to deepen their strategic partnership.
Adding to the collaboration, an imminent landmark investment protection agreement between Saudi Arabia and Egypt has been announced. Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi noted this during the meeting, addressing existing challenges for Saudi investors in Egypt, with the agreement set to be activated within the next two months.
Celebrating international friendships, Mexico's Independence Day was marked in Riyadh by Ambassador Anibal Gomez Toledo. The festivities highlighted the strong bilateral ties established since 1952 between Saudi Arabia and Mexico, underscoring the vibrant trade, political, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
Echoing the theme of strong bilateral relations, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman once again engaged with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on September 16, 2024. The discussions focused on enhancing ties, with greetings exchanged between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Saudi leadership, further cementing their collaboration.
Turning to international matters, UN experts have issued a stark warning that Israel risks becoming an international "pariah" due to its actions in Gaza. Special rapporteurs Francesca Albanese and George Katrougalos condemned the situation as "genocide" and criticized the international double standards in responding to the crisis, calling for serious international contemplation of Israel's UN membership.
