Jazan's Crafts Market Showcases Rich Heritage and Traditional Skills
The interactive heritage pavilion at the crafts market in Jazan offers visitors a glimpse into the region's traditional life, culture, and craftsmanship.
Riyadh—The crafts market in Jazan has become an essential cultural hub, featuring an engaging interactive heritage pavilion.
The pavilion provides visitors with an immersive experience of the regional traditions, customs, games, adornments, and cuisine that have been integral to the community's identity for generations, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency.
The market, organized by Alrowad Youth Association and the Cultural House as part of the national Year of Handicrafts celebration, aims to bridge the gap between younger generations and the rich cultural heritage of their ancestors.
By fostering dialogue and participation, the initiative attracts many visitors who are drawn into the village-like atmosphere and become immersed in the regional traditions.
The crafts market also serves as a platform for local artisans to display their traditional skills and crafts, thus contributing positively to the local economy.
The event offers workshops led by artisans on various subjects such as pottery, sculpture, painting, palm frond weaving, candle and perfume making, leather arts, Arabic calligraphy, seashell crafts, embroidery, jewelry-making, branding, and product packaging.
These hands-on experiences provide participants with an opportunity to learn, enjoy, and participate in the revival of heritage.
The workshops are held every Friday and Saturday until the end of November at the Cultural House.
