Northern Borders Launches Major Tree-Planting Campaign
Saudi Arabia's National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification initiates large-scale afforestation project.
The Northern Borders' National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification has spearheaded a significant tree-planting campaign spanning various locations.
This initiative, which involves government agencies, volunteers, and environmentally conscious individuals, targets the planting of more than 11,000 seedlings in Rafha as part of a broader strategy to enhance green spaces and improve the environmental landscape.
The campaign is designed to bolster national efforts aimed at developing vegetation, safeguarding natural resources, maintaining ecological balance, and enhancing biodiversity, all in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030's objectives for environmental sustainability and improved quality of life.Furthermore, this effort supports other initiatives within the region.
For instance, the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority recently planted over 3,000 seedlings at its nursery located in the Jouf area.
This project is integral to the authority's commitment to environmental protection and expansion of vegetation as part of its vision for a greener future.Involvement from educational institutions has been significant, with volunteers from various schools participating actively during the National Greening Season tree-planting campaign.
The authority's contributions to this national effort include planting nearly four million seedlings and rehabilitating 750,000 hectares of degraded land.
These restoration endeavors are critical for revitalizing ecosystems impacted by desertification and overgrazing, thereby helping to restore natural plant life and preserve the Kingdom's biodiversity.
