First International Flight at Red Sea Global's RSI Airport: A Milestone in Saudi Arabia's Tourism Destination Goals
Red Sea Global's Red Sea International Airport (RSI) is set to receive its first international flight from Dubai on April 18, 2023.
This marks the start of a new twice-weekly service by flydubai, increasing the airport's weekly flights to eight.
Since September 2023, RSI has been served by domestic flights by Saudia.
With a capacity to serve one million guests a year, RSI is strategically located within three hours flying time of 250 million people, making it a significant addition to the global travel network.
John Pagano, Group CEO at Red Sea Global, highlighted the importance of this milestone.
Saudi Arabia's first international flight marks a significant milestone in its goal to become a leading global tourism destination.
The Red Sea International Airport (RSI) plays a crucial role in facilitating access to luxury resorts in the area, such as Six Senses Southern Dunes, St. Regis Red Sea Resort, and upcoming resorts like Nujuma, Shebara, and Desert Rock.
RSI's expansion includes the arrival of international travelers, following the commencement of domestic operations last year.
Notable guests include legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and his family.
Together, these developments showcase the destination's growing luxury offerings.
RSI, a new airport in Saudi Arabia, is committed to providing excellent services to passengers and airlines while prioritizing sustainability.
The airport is working towards becoming the first carbon-neutral facility in the Middle East, using innovative solutions to reduce emissions, optimize energy use, and manage resources and waste.
Features of the airport include the use of local materials in construction, 100% renewable energy utilization, and design strategies to minimize light pollution, aligning with LEED Gold Certification standards and Dark Sky Guidelines.
Flydubai is the first airline to operate flights from the UAE to RSI, offering direct access to Saudi Arabia's Red Sea resorts.
Sreedharan, speaking about a new aviation operation, emphasized Dubai's dedication to linking underdeveloped markets and improving connectivity through its aviation hub.
By 2030, The Red Sea project in Saudi Arabia is expected to include 50 resorts with over 8,000 hotel rooms, 1,000 residential properties, luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment, and leisure facilities.
