Al Hilal Turns Deficit into a 3-1 Victory Over Al Fateh and Nears League Title
Despite Missing Key Players, Al Hilal Secures a Triumphant Comeback Against Al Fateh
In an electrifying match during the 29th round of the Saudi Roshan Football League, Al Hilal’s first football team turned a deficit into a 3-1 victory over their guest team, Al Fateh, despite facing significant player absences.
This crucial win brings "The Leader" one step closer to clinching the Saudi League title.
Al Hilal, which had previously been eliminated from the continental competition in the semifinals against UAE's Al Ain, advanced their points tally to 80 from 28 matches. They now lead by a significant 12 points over their closest pursuer, Al Nassr, helmed by the iconic Cristiano Ronaldo, with one game in hand for the league leaders.
The scoring was opened by Lucas Zelarayan of Al Fateh with a low strike at the 57-minute mark, only for Al Hilal’s Brazilian star, Michael, to equalize a minute later with a precise header.
Ruben Neves then put the home team ahead with a penalty kick in the 74th minute, awarded after the referee consulted the video assistant referee system, which confirmed a foul on substitute Mohammed Al-Qahtani by Al Fateh’s Salem Al-Najdi.
In the 15th minute of stoppage time, Ali Al-Bulaihi sealed the win for Al Hilal by capitalizing on a rebound from Al Fateh’s goalkeeper following a free-kick taken by his teammate Sergej Milinković-Savić.
With this defeat, Al Fateh’s points remain at 40 from 29 matches, placing them in the sixth position in the league standings.
