Palestinian Islamic Jihad Launches Rockets at Southern Israel in Response to Air Strikes
On Monday, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), known as the Al-Quds Brigades, announced that its militants had launched rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip towards southern Israel.
The attacks were in retaliation for Israeli air strikes that had previously taken place in Palestinian territory.
In a statement, the Al-Quds Brigades specified that the rockets had been fired towards the communities of Sderot, Nir Am, and settlements located in the "Gaza envelope," which is a region in southern Israel that is close to the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military confirmed the incident, reporting that warning sirens had been activated in the affected communities.
