Princess Catherine will focus on early years child development during her trip.
LONDON: Britain’s Princess Catherine is set to carry out her first overseas royal visit since her cancer diagnosis when she travels to Italy next week, according to Kensington Palace.
The two-day visit to Reggio Emilia in northern Italy will center on the princess's work in early years child development, as per a palace statement.
Princess Catherine, who is married to heir to the throne
Prince William, expressed her enthusiasm for the trip, stating that she is eager to see firsthand how the Reggio Emilia approach supports children’s development.
The Reggio Emilia Approach is an educational philosophy that emphasizes the potential for self-development in children and combines nature and loving human relationships to foster their growth.
This visit marks Catherine's return to public royal duties following her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, which led to chemotherapy treatments.
She announced in January 2025 that she was in remission, signaling a positive development in her health journey.
During the trip, Princess Catherine will learn more about the Reggio Emilia Approach and its implementation, aiming to build on the work of her Center for Early Childhood.
Founded by Catherine in 2021, the center aims to raise awareness about the importance of early years experiences.
The princess, who has three children, had previously revealed her cancer diagnosis on the third anniversary of King Charles III's coronation in March 2024.
Various events are planned in London to commemorate this occasion, including a 62-gun royal salute at the Tower of London.
