Baby Born from Dead Mother in Gaza Dies After Few Days
A baby girl named Sabreen Al-Rouh, meaning "soul" in Arabic, was born prematurely in a Gaza hospital after her mother, Sabreen Al-Sakani, was injured in an Israeli airstrike on their home in Rafah on April 26, 2024.
Her husband and three-year-old daughter were killed in the attack.
The mother was 30-weeks pregnant at the time.
Sadly, the baby girl passed away a few days later.
Sabreen Al-Sakani was seriously injured in the strike and is currently receiving medical care.
A Palestinian woman named Sabreen Al-Rouh died from her wounds during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza.
Doctors were able to save her baby through a Caesarean section but the newborn suffered respiratory problems and a weak immune system.
The baby passed away as a result.
Doctor Mohammad Salama, who had been caring for Sabreen, shared the sad news with Reuters.
Sabreen's death marked the loss of over 34,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since the beginning of the six-month-old war in Gaza.
Israel denies intentionally targeting civilians during its Hamas eradication campaign.
The result has been widespread destruction in Gaza, including damaged hospitals that are low on electricity, medicine, and sterilization equipment.
Sabreen Al-Rouh, an infant, died despite her grandmother's pleas for her survival.
Her uncle, Rami Al-Sheikh Jouda, mourned her loss and the losses of other family members.
The hospitals had been a daily visitation site for him to check on Sabreen's health.
A baby named Rouh, whose uncle was closely connected with, was diagnosed with a respiratory problem by doctors.
The uncle did not believe the situation was serious until he received a call from the hospital that the baby had passed away.
Tragically, the baby's mother, father, and uncle's brother-in-law also perished in the incident.
The family was left devastated, as they could not find any remaining memories or belongings of their loved ones, including pictures and mobile phones.
