US Drops Charges Against Doctor Accused of Covid Vaccine Scheme

Charges against doctor Michael Kirk Moore, accused of destroying Covid vaccines and issuing fake vaccination certificates, have been dropped.
The US Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered charges to be dropped against Dr. Michael Kirk Moore, a plastic surgeon from Utah, who was accused of destroying Covid-19 vaccines and issuing false vaccination certificates.

This abrupt halt to the proceedings comes just days after the trial commenced, marking a significant development in the vaccine-skeptic movement supported by President Donald Trump's administration.Moore, along with his clinic and three others, were charged by the Department of Justice in 2023 for allegedly running a scheme to defraud the government.

He was accused of disposing of over $28,000 worth of government-provided Covid vaccines and providing at least 1,937 false vaccine record cards in exchange for payment.

Additionally, Moore faced accusations of administering saline solutions to children at their parents' request, making them believe they had been vaccinated against Covid.Moore's trial began this week at a federal court in Salt Lake City.

However, Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene, a vocal supporter of Trump, intervened by writing to Bondi urging the dismissal of charges against Moore.

Bondi stated that she was acting upon the advocacy of Greene and Utah Senator Mike Lee, hard-right lawmakers who supported the cause. The decision to drop the charges has sparked controversy amidst political divisions in the US over Covid-19 measures.

The pandemic has fueled debates between those supporting lockdowns and vaccination drives and those viewing these measures as infringements on personal freedom.

Under Trump's administration, Health Secretary Robert F.

Kennedy Jr., known for his views on vaccine policy, initiated changes in American vaccine guidelines.Kennedy has been criticized for spreading misinformation about vaccines, including the measles vaccine, amid the country's worst measles epidemic in 30 years.

Despite these concerns, the decision to drop charges against Moore highlights ongoing debates surrounding vaccination policies and individual choices.
