Shariah Law Mandates Obtaining Hajj Permits: Council of Senior Scholars Affirms
The Council of Senior Scholars, a religious body in Saudi Arabia, has declared that obtaining a Hajj permit is required under Islamic law (Shariah).
The permit is intended to ensure the well-being of individuals and the community, and failing to obtain one is considered a sin.
The council made this statement following a briefing by officials from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, who discussed the risks and challenges of not complying with the permit requirements.
The council stated that government agencies responsible for organizing the Hajj create detailed plans based on the authorized number of pilgrims to ensure quality services in security, health, accommodation, catering, and other essential areas.
By aligning the number of pilgrims with authorized figures, issues such as overcrowding, obstructed movement, and transportation hazards are prevented.
