Saudia's Travel Companion: A New AI-Powered Digital Platform for Transformative Travel Experiences
Saudia, the Kingdom's flagship airline, has introduced a beta version of its digital platform, Travel Companion, which utilizes artificial intelligence to enhance the travel industry.
The initiative, developed in partnership with Accenture over two years, aims to revolutionize how travelers interact with the airline and set new standards for digital travel.
The Travel Companion, previously known as TC, offers customized solutions based on individual preferences and needs, providing reliable search results and incorporating visual aids in responses.
The Director General of Saudia Group, Ibrahim Al-Omar, stated that this launch represents Saudia's commitment to providing unmatched convenience and flexibility for its guests.
A new interface called a "comprehensive, one-stop solution" allows users to book various concierge services such as hotels, transportation, restaurants, activities, and attractions, all in one place.
The interface also seamlessly connects with transportation platforms and train companies for a smooth journey.
Saudia's Chief Data and Technology Officer, Abdulgader Attiah, described it as a "VVIP concierge service" that is free and available to the public.
This is a beta version and will continue to be enhanced and developed.
Saudia aims to be the central platform for the travel industry with their new app, allowing users to collaborate with all tourism ecosystems in one place and communicate with various parties through the app.
Future features include voice command and digital payment solutions, with concierge services for hotel, transportation, and restaurant bookings to be added within the next two years.
Developing the app five years ago would have taken three to four years.
Saudia, the airline, has launched a new chatbot powered by GenAI technology within just eight months of development.
This chatbot can engage in conversations and execute tasks, making it the first of its kind in the world.
Users can access this "Travel Companion" through a telecom e-SIM card provided by Saudia, allowing them to stay connected globally without relying on additional internet providers.
Additionally, data packages can be purchased for extended use to ensure continuous access to the platform's services.
