Saudi National Labor Observatory: Over 28,000 New Saudi Citizen Workers in Private Sector, Unemployment Rate at 7.7%
In March 2023, over 28,100 new Saudi citizens entered the private sector labor market for the first time, bringing the total number of employees in the Saudi private sector to over 11.2 million, according to the Saudi National Labor Observatory's latest report.
Of this total, approximately 2.3 million were Saudi citizens and 8.8 million were expatriates.
The decrease in Saudi unemployment, which currently stands at 7.7 percent, is a significant achievement towards the Vision 2030 goal of reducing the unemployment rate to 7 percent.
This progress can be attributed to the increasing number of female workers in the labor force and the government's efforts to create more job opportunities for Saudi citizens.
The report also revealed that there were 9.9 million male workers and over 1.3 million female workers in the private sector.
Overall, these statistics demonstrate a positive trend in the employment of Saudi citizens in the private sector and a step towards achieving the Vision 2030 objectives.
