Saudi Arabia Condemns Foreign Interference in Sudan After Renewed RSF Attacks
Riyadh warns against external meddling as violence escalates and urges respect for Sudan’s sovereignty and civilian protection
Saudi Arabia has issued a strong condemnation of what it described as foreign interference in Sudan, following renewed attacks by the Rapid Support Forces that have intensified instability and humanitarian suffering across the country.
The Saudi foreign ministry said the latest violence underscores the dangers of external actors fuelling the conflict and called for an immediate halt to actions that undermine Sudan’s sovereignty and the safety of its civilian population.
The statement came after reports of fresh RSF assaults on urban areas and critical infrastructure, which have led to further displacement and casualties amid an already fragile security situation.
Saudi Arabia emphasised that continued military escalation threatens regional stability and risks deepening one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises.
It reiterated its firm rejection of any outside involvement that prolongs the fighting or obstructs efforts toward a peaceful political settlement.
Riyadh highlighted its consistent diplomatic engagement on Sudan, noting its role in supporting dialogue initiatives and ceasefire efforts aimed at ending the conflict between rival armed factions.
Saudi officials stressed that a sustainable resolution can only be achieved through an inclusive political process led by Sudanese stakeholders, free from coercion or manipulation by foreign powers.
The kingdom also renewed its call for all parties to abide by international humanitarian law, ensure safe access for aid deliveries, and protect civilians and essential services.
Saudi Arabia’s position aligns with broader regional efforts to stabilise Sudan and prevent the conflict from spilling over into neighbouring countries, as diplomatic pressure mounts for an end to violence and a return to a civilian-led transition.
