Saudi Arabia and Norway Host Joint Meeting of Arab and European Countries to Support Two-State Solution and Recognition of Palestine
A coordination meeting took place in Riyadh on Monday, organized by Saudi Arabia and Norway, with the participation of Arab and European countries.
The goal was to discuss ways to support the implementation of a two-state solution for Palestine and recognition of the Palestinian state.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Espen Barth Eide, Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the meeting.
Prince Faisal welcomed the ministers and emphasized the importance of taking practical steps to end the conflict in Gaza through political means and implementing the two-state solution.
Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia expressed shock over the discovery of mass graves in Nasser Medical City, condemning the disregard for humanitarian standards and impunity.
He also warned against an invasion of Rafah, predicting a humanitarian crisis, dire consequences, and serious repercussions.
The Saudi foreign minister reaffirmed their commitment to a comprehensive solution to the conflict in the region and emphasized the importance of recognizing a Palestinian state as an inalienable right to self-determination and a crucial step towards a two-state solution.
Prince Faisal commended European countries for their intention to recognize Palestine as a state.
He viewed this as a significant step towards establishing Palestinian statehood and promoting security and stability in the region.
The meeting was attended by representatives from various countries including Algeria, Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Palestine, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, Turkey, the UK, the European Union, and the Arab League.
