Ukrainian officials report at least six deaths following Russian forces' attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region, after a US-mediated ceasefire ended.
Russian forces launched attacks in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region on Tuesday, killing at least six people, according to regional officials.
The attacks came after the expiry of a three-day US-mediated ceasefire that had concluded on Monday.
Ukrainian authorities stated that Russia conducted more than 200 drone assaults overnight, effectively terminating any hopes for an extension of the truce.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the situation by stating that his country's military had targeted gas facilities in Russia's central Orenburg region, approximately 900 miles from Ukraine's borders.
Tragically, a drone attack struck an apartment building in Zelensky's hometown of Kryvyi Rih, leading to two fatalities and injuring four, including the couple's nine-month-old daughter whose leg was severely injured.
Zelensky condemned this attack as 'cynical and devoid of any military logic.'
In another incident, northeast of Kryvyi Rih, an aerial bomb strike resulted in four deaths and three injuries, according to regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha.
Zelensky expressed his concerns in a video address, emphasizing the ongoing need for international support against Russia's continued aggression.
The ceasefire, initially agreed upon as part of the anniversary commemorations of Soviet victory over Nazi Germany during World War II and under a US peace initiative led by President
Donald Trump, saw limited large-scale airstrikes from both sides.
However, accusations of drone and artillery attacks persisted along the front lines.
Zelensky revealed that discussions were underway with 13 countries and NATO representatives to develop technologies for defending against ballistic missiles.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Kyiv had proposed extending the ceasefire but instead faced further aggression from Russia, which targeted civilian infrastructure with over 200 drones.
Zelensky detailed overnight attacks on various regions, including Kyiv, where a downed drone sparked a fire on a residential building's roof in the Obolon district.
Injuries were reported in central Cherkasy and damage was noted in Zhytomyr and Chernihiv regions.
The southeastern city of Dnipro and southern Kherson city also suffered strikes, with two injuries reported in Mykolaiv region due to attacks on energy infrastructure, causing blackouts.
