Ministry of Islamic Affairs Discovers Illicit Use of Mosque Utilities in Jeddah: Seven Electricity Meters Misappropriated
During a recent inspection in Jeddah, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance discovered several breaches related to the misuse of electricity and water utilities meant for mosques.
The ministry's regulatory teams uncovered that a commercial tower was illegally tapped into seven electricity meters belonging to the ministry, using the power to operate various shops and their services, including elevators.
Furthermore, in a commercial complex, electricity designated for a mosque was being redirected for other purposes.
Additionally, there was a misuse of utilities intended for the women's prayer area within the same mosque.
Another violation involved a mosque's meter being used to provide power to a rented commercial building owned by a company.
The ministry took immediate action by sending maintenance teams to rectify these infringements and implement measures to prevent future violations.
