Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Air and Tourism Authority Announce Partnership for New Routes and Enhanced Travel Experience
Saudi Arabia's second flag carrier, Riyadh Air, is expanding its reach with the help of a new agreement with the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA).
The memorandum of understanding was signed at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai and includes joint sponsorships, collaborations at global trade shows, and joint loyalty program schemes.
The partnership aims to increase Saudi Arabia's connectivity to the world and support the country's tourism strategy to reach 150 million visits by 2030.
STA CEO Fahd Hamidaddin stated that this partnership will benefit guests with exclusive offers and rewards and help attract more visitors to experience Saudi Arabia's unique destinations.
Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas announced that the airline is connected to over 180 destinations and aims to increase annual passenger traffic to 330 million by 2030.
A new agreement with the Saudi Transport Authority will simplify airline booking processes through collaboration on payment solutions.
Douglas called it a "momentous day" for Riyadh Air and emphasized the company's commitment to improving travel experiences, aviation standards, innovation, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.
Douglas, a representative of the airline, announced plans to expand their fleet to compete with regional giants.
This decision follows the Kingdom's second flag carrier's order of 39 Boeing 787-9 jets last year, with an option for 33 more.
The move aligns with Saudi Arabia's goal to expand its aviation industry and attract more tourists, going beyond pilgrimage travel, which is currently the main source of inbound tourism.
