Italian Airforce Intercepts Two Unidentified Russian Planes Over Baltic Sea
On Friday, the Italian airforce announced that they had intercepted two unidentified aircraft over the international waters of the Baltic Sea on Thursday and Friday morning.
According to two Italian defense sources, these planes were identified as Russian.
The interceptions were conducted by Italian Eurofighter jets stationed at the Polish base of Malbork as part of NATO's air policing mission.
After completing their mission, the Italian jets returned to the Polish base.
The defense sources revealed that the Russian aircraft were detected by radar but did not respond to radio signals or requests to communicate.
The Italian airforce statement did not provide any additional information.
