International Community Urges De-escalation After Reported Israeli Strikes on Iranian Sites
Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have responded to reports of Israel's attack on Iranian military bases and nuclear facilities in Isfahan.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow made it clear to Israel that Iran does not want escalation and urged restraint to avoid further conflict.
The UAE also expressed concern and called for utmost restraint to prevent serious repercussions.
The foreign ministers of Jordan and Germany, as well as the G7 group of nations, have called for de-escalation in the Middle East following reports of Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.
Jordan's Ayman Safadi warned against the danger of regional escalation, while German Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged to work with partners to prevent further conflict.
The G7 foreign ministers also urged all parties to prevent further escalation.
The G7 countries, including Italy, UK, US, France, Germany, Japan, and Canada, have issued a statement demanding that Iran and its affiliated groups cease their attacks.
The statement comes after reports of retaliatory strikes on Iran by Israel.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi have also called for all parties to avoid actions that could escalate the conflict in the Middle East.
Japan and China have expressed their desire to prevent further escalation of tensions in the region, with China vowing to play a constructive role in de-escalating the situation.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that there is no damage to Iran's nuclear sites and urged extreme restraint from all parties involved.
The Sultanate of Oman condemned an Israeli attack on Isfahan and denounced repeated military attacks in the region.
Oman has called on the international community to use dialogue, diplomacy, and political solutions to address the causes of tension and conflict in the Middle East, specifically in Gaza.
The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak have also expressed concerns over the escalating situation and called for calm and restraint from all sides.
The European Commission and the UK have condemned Iran's missile attacks against Israel and acknowledged Israel's right to self-defense, but emphasized that significant escalation is not in anyone's interest and urged for calm heads to prevail in the region.
Italy's Foreign Ministers Antonio Tajani and Tobias Billstrom have urged caution during a G7 meeting on Capri to prevent an escalation of tensions.
Both ministers expressed serious concern over the situation and called for an end to the exchange of blows and escalation.
