Saudi Police Arrest Farm Workers for Altering Product Expiry Dates, Seize 248,000 Chicken Cubes and Other Items
On Thursday, Saudi authorities arrested illegal workers at a farm in Huraymila governorate, Riyadh region, after they were found altering expiry dates on products by the Saudi Ministry of Commerce.
A raid was conducted at 3 a.m. in collaboration with Riyadh region police and Huraymila governorate police, following the seizure of expired products belonging to expatriates a few hours prior.
The confiscated items included 248,000 chicken stock cubes, 4,600 potato chip products, 2,900 soy sauces, and 1,500 pasta sauces.
The text reports that authorities seized and destroyed counterfeit products, along with a laser device used to alter production dates.
Workers involved were handed over to the authorities for potential punishment under the anti-commercial fraud law.
Violators could face imprisonment, fines, and deportation, with penalties reaching up to SR 1 million ($266,623) and three years in prison.
