'History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques' Forum Showcases Kingdom's Commitment to Pilgrims'
The 'History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques' forum aims to document the evolution of Hajj and the care for the holiest sites in Saudi Arabia.
JEDDAH: The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) launched the "History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques" forum during the fifth Hajj Conference and Exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
This initiative is part of a broader project focused on documenting the historical significance of Hajj as an essential pillar of Islamic identity and unity among Muslims.
The forum's primary objective is to provide accessible cultural and educational content based on research data.
It aims to serve as both a national and global reference for understanding Hajj rituals and promoting Saudi Arabia's cultural image, aligned with Vision 2030's objectives in culture and tourism.
Prince Faisal bin Salman, special adviser to King Salman and chairman of Darah's board of directors, emphasized the importance of documenting Hajj's history scientifically, including interactive content.
Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah, highlighted the prince's role in preserving national heritage and supporting knowledge and cultural projects that showcase Saudi Arabia's efforts in serving pilgrims.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, secretary-general of the Muslim World League, discussed the role of modern technologies in documenting and presenting the rich Hajj experience.
The forum will feature more than 10 specialized panel sessions with over 50 speakers from various fields, addressing topics such as organizing Hajj and Umrah, crowd management, transport, healthcare, and digital transformation.
An accompanying exhibition at Super Dome Jeddah until Nov. 12 showcases the history of Hajj through rare documents, historical photographs, artifacts, and digital media, providing a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of Hajj over the past century.
