Gazans Seek Refuge in Rafah Beaches Amid Soaring Temperatures and Collapsed Water System
In the past week, Rafah, a city in the Gaza Strip, has experienced scorching temperatures, leading thousands of its residents to seek refuge at the local beaches.
Despite the presence of Israeli military vessels nearby, hundreds of weary Gazans brought their children to the shore for a day of relaxation, paddling, and swimming, as reported by Arab News' correspondent in Gaza.
The majority of the 1.4 million displaced Palestinians in Rafah reside in temporary shelters, such as tents, situated near the Egyptian border and the beach.
Since the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2020, Gazans have been compelled to utilize seawater for various purposes due to the failure of their water system.
As a result, they have been washing, bathing, and even drinking the salty water.
