Gaza Health Authorities Report Recent Israeli Assault Brings Death Toll to Approximately 28,000 Victims

The health authorities in the Gaza Strip have announced a dramatic increase in the death toll following the Israeli offensive that began on October 7.
As of recent accounts, the fatalities have reached 27,947, amid the killing of 107 Palestinians due to Israeli attacks and conflicts in the past 24 hours.

Today, Hamas-run health authorities clarified that the Israeli onslaught resulted in 142 Palestinians injured within the last 24 hours, amplifying the total number of injuries to 67,460.

These figures are currently not independently verifiable, but the United Nations generally regards the numbers provided by Gaza's Health Ministry as credible.

Earlier today, the Palestinian news agency, Sama, reported that the Israeli military committed 15 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in 130 deaths and 170 injuries over the past 24 hours. This spike has raised the total death toll to 27,840 victims since the start of the Israeli offensive on October 7.

The Israeli aircraft have continued to bombard various areas in the Gaza Strip for 126 consecutive days, supported by tank and naval artillery fire, leaving dozens dead and hundreds injured.

The Israeli army also maintains its heavy bombardment of the southern Gaza Strip, particularly the Rafah Governorate, amidst escalating debate over the ground maneuver threatened by the Israeli military.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has warned of a humanitarian disaster and repercussions for the entire region if Israel continues its attack on Rafah, a southern city in the Gaza Strip.

The United States government has also warned against a widespread assault on Rafah, which is currently home to more than one million Palestinians who have fled the fighting from other parts of the Gaza Strip.
