US Pressures Germany to Send Long-Range Missiles to Ukraine: ATACMS Delivery May Influence Berlin's Decision
The US has sent long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, and hopes this action by the US and allied countries will encourage Germany to follow suit and provide its Taurus missiles.
France and Britain have already supplied SCALP and Storm Shadow missiles, respectively.
The US official stated that the decision to provide Taurus missiles to Ukraine is ultimately up to Germany.
An anonymous official expressed hope that the US provision of ATACMS missiles, along with the UK and France's previous decisions to give long-range cruise missiles, would influence Germany to provide Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
However, Germany has been hesitant to send the missiles due to concerns about escalating the conflict, which has been ongoing for over two years.
Ukraine has repeatedly requested the Taurus missiles to help defend against Russian forces.
