Thirty-Five Saudi Students Fly to Los Angeles for ISEF 2024: Representing Mawhiba in the World's Largest Science Competition
Thirty-five Saudi students, chosen from over 210,000 participants in the "Ibdaa" National Olympiad, traveled to Los Angeles for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2024).
Representing the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), they will compete against peers from 70 countries in the world's largest pre-college scientific research event from May 10-18.
Forty-five students out of 180 finalists were selected to represent Saudi Arabia at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2024.
These students underwent intensive training from Saudi and international experts in various disciplines, with support from national incubators, universities, research centers, families, and teachers.
Mawhiba, the Saudi foundation sponsoring the students, will also be a main sponsor at ISEF and will offer special prizes for the best projects in STEM fields.
These prizes include scholarships for undergraduate studies at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and opportunities to join the Mawhiba Universal Enrichment Program.
Saudi Arabia has participated in international science competitions for the past 18 years, with students earning a total of 133 awards since 2007.
These accolades include 92 grand prizes and 41 special distinctions, demonstrating the Kingdom's dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and scientific excellence among its young population.
