The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen its logistics sector by launching a new facility worth SR611 million.
JEDDAH: The logistics landscape in Saudi Arabia has witnessed significant enhancement with the official opening of the SR611 million ($165 million) Agility Logistics Park in Jeddah.
Spearheaded by Transport Minister Saleh Al-Jasser, this development marks a pivotal step towards bolstering the nation's standing as a global logistics hub and advancing objectives outlined in Vision 2030.
The park is the brainchild of Agility Logistics Parks and boasts six Class-A warehouses adhering to international standards.
These facilities are strategically designed to cater to various sectors such as retail, consumer goods, technology, automotive, energy, and e-commerce, per the Saudi Press Agency's account.
This initiative aligns with broader governmental efforts to transform Saudi Arabia into a logistical powerhouse.
Minister Al-Jasser remarked on the occasion that the successive investments by global and local private sectors reflect the inherent attractiveness of Saudi Arabia's logistics sector, spotlighting its ability to draw major players from the international community.
Investments by leading global logistics companies have been underpinned by structural reforms, operational growth, and advancements in logistical infrastructure.
The minister further lauded the collaborative efforts with the private sector, emphasizing the potential for substantial economic returns and developmental opportunities within the transport and logistics industry of Saudi Arabia.
These investments are seen as a testament to a shared vision among stakeholders to establish modern, high-quality logistics facilities that leverage technology, such as artificial intelligence, while enhancing supply chain efficiency.
Direct and indirect job creation, bolstered by this logistical investment, is also set to contribute positively to economic growth and the sector's long-term competitiveness, according to Al-Jasser.
Agility Global Chairman Tarek Sultan reinforced the strategic alignment of the Jeddah facility with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
He articulated that the establishment of Class-A logistics complexes in Jeddah not only supports national trade corridors but also aims to improve global supply chain efficiency, ultimately developing a resilient and sustainable infrastructure.
Situated across 576,760 sq.
meters of land, encompassing over 338,000 sq.
meters of built-up space, the complex is strategically located within proximity to Jeddah Islamic Port (11 km) and the city center (15 km).
The warehouses are fully compliant with necessary safety standards, including those set by Saudi Civil Defense, municipalities, and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, thereby ensuring secure and reliable operations round-the-clock.
This project represents a strategic component of Agility’s long-term plan to invest in and modernize Saudi Arabia's logistical infrastructure.
The development has been facilitated through collaboration with the General Authority for State Real Estate, which was instrumental in securing land for the complex.
