The Saudi Arabian passport has risen in the global rankings to 61st place in 2024 from 65th in 2023, among over 200 countries. It now grants visa-free access to 89 destinations.
This evaluation comes from Henley & Partners' annual most powerful passport index, which utilizes data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The index, from a London-based firm, provides immigration and investment advice worldwide.
Saudi Arabia's milestone is its highest since the Henley Passport Index began 19 years ago. France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Singapore lead the 2024 rankings, with access to 194 countries.
Finland, South Korea, and Sweden rank second, followed by Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands in third place. Britain, Belgium, Malta, and Switzerland are in fourth, with the US, Hungary, and Canada in seventh.
The Saudi passport, which previously ranked 72nd in 2021, sits just behind the Omani passport and ahead of China's. The UAE ranks 11th, with Qatar at 53rd, Kuwait 55th, and Bahrain 59th.
