Ramadan Decorations in Jeddah: Local Shops Offer Lanterns, Tableware, and Traditional Motifs

Ramadan Decorations in Jeddah: Local Shops Offer Lanterns, Tableware, and Traditional Motifs

During Ramadan, Jeddah residents can find a wide range of decorations at local shops like Al-Hadaya Center, Abyat, Ya Balash, Al-Bashawat, Bravo, and Day by Day KSA.
These stores offer lanterns, string lights, and ornate tableware to create a festive atmosphere.

Al-Hadaya Center and Ya Balash specifically have a large inventory of Ramadan decorations, with 30% and 35% of their stock dedicated to these items and related utensils, respectively.

During Ramadan season, the most popular lanterns were hand-painted wooden lanterns from India and copper lanterns from Egypt at Al-Hadaya Center.

Khayamia patterns, derived from the Arabic word for tent, were a popular motif.

The inventory for Ramadan decorations was completely sold out before the holiday.

Residents in Jeddah could find various options for decorations at Al-Hadaya Center and other local stores.

Dima Nabulsi, co-founder of Sisters and Co., noted that while the experience of Ramadan and its gatherings remain consistent, it is always special.

The author expresses her love for decorating her house during Ramadan with a focus on simplicity and peace.

She aims to create a calm and light-hearted atmosphere with various centerpieces.

Local stores like Al-Hadaya Center and Ya Balash offer a range of Ramadan and Eid decoration options.

Sisters' date balls are a traditional treat, and this year they offer different types of boxes for Ramadan goodies.

The author shares her observation of this year's Ramadan decorating trends, which include a mix of blues, whites, and gold colors, minimal lanterns or lights, and the crescent moon as the main centerpiece.

During Ramadan, Jeddah residents like Nema Sabea decorate their homes with unique designs for each room.

Nema, a mother of five, pays close attention to detail and involves her children in the decoration process.

Decoration options include golden motifs, bohemian styles, and traditional wicker and straw decor.

Local stores like Al-Hadaya Center and Ya Balash offer a wide variety of Ramadan and Eid decorations for residents to choose from.

A woman is preparing for Ramadan by setting up a prayer area in the kitchen and purchasing new dresses for her daughters at the 2024 Consmix National and Consumer Industries Exhibition in Jeddah.

The exhibition, which takes place during Sha'ban and Ramadan, offers a wide range of Ramadan decorations and Arab and local culinary brands.

Khider Ismail, who operates a leading lantern stall in Cairo, was interviewed during the tour of the exhibition.

Ismail and his father have been running two decor stalls for Ramadan in Jeddah for the past 10 years.

Their selection of Egyptian Ramadan decorations, including lanterns ranging from $1 to $267 and over 200 types in various sizes, has become a popular attraction for festival goers.

They refresh their offerings each year to meet the anticipation of visitors.

The stalls also feature characters from the "Fananees" TV series, which have become as iconic as classic Egyptian Ramadan figures.

This year, unexpected bestsellers included gray and pink linens with modern khayamiya patterns and hand-embroidered Ramadan-themed tablecloths.

Additionally, small mesaharati drums for children were popular items.

Khayamiya patterns, derived from the Arabic word for tent, are decorative applique textiles with geometric and curvilinear arabesque designs, originating in Egypt and widely used for various items.

The mesaharati is a Ramadan tradition involving drummers who perform in neighborhoods in Egypt and the Levant.

The text describes the role of the mesaharati, a traditional figure who wakes people up for the pre-dawn meal during Ramadan, and suggests ways to create a festive atmosphere at home for the holy month.

Simple ideas include setting a Ramadan-inspired table with elegant dinnerware and a centerpiece, hanging lights for a warm glow, and incorporating traditional elements like dates, Arabic coffee sets, and incense burners.
