The Pope's participation in the United Nations climate conference has not been confirmed yet, but he has expressed his desire to attend. This would be the first time a pope attends a UN conference on climate change.

Pope Francis recently renewed his call to address the climate crisis in an apostolic exhortation titled "Laudate Deum." In it, he sets high objectives for COP 28, hoping for "a turning point" and the establishment of "binding forms of energy transition" to reduce carbon dioxide levels and restore the credibility of international politics.

Pope Francis previously visited the United Arab Emirates in 2019 to sign the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together.
